A new investment round for us
On the 12th of June we announced a $66m (€53m) Series B funding round led by international venture capital firm Index Ventures with participation from existing investors Accel, Creandum, and Project A. The investment will be used in order to continue building our world class team and further expand geographically - initially to the UK and France, as well as expanding our medical offering in our current markets.
"We are going to make the world a healthier place by providing equal access to hassle-free high quality care – regardless of where you live or who you are. We are happy that Index Ventures and our other investors share that great ambition. Using digitalization we will push through a paradigm shift in healthcare. From being expensive, reactive and system oriented we will make healthcare abundant, proactive and patient focused. We have an amazing team in place that will continue to grow. It’s the people working at KRY that will change healthcare at its core” says Johannes Schildt, CEO and co-founder.
KRY is created by patients, for patients, as a result of struggling with the highly strained healthcare systems around the world. In less than a year, we’ve grown from 50 employees to over 160 employees, a number that changes every day, and from less than 100 doctors to over 300 doctors and 40 psychologists. Today we exist in Sweden, Norway and Spain. Now we’re expanding in order for us to help even more patients all over Europe.
Sabina Wizander was first introduced to KRY when she worked at Creandum, one of KRY’s first investors. When seeing the great potential and passion that KRY held, she decided to switch sides and instead take on a role within KRY as CCO.
“This investment means there is a great opportunity for us to expand to new markets as well as grow in the current ones. We’re just in the beginning of our journey, with a goal to help patients all over Europe. When launching in new markets as well as iterating the current ones deeper, we will need to continue to grow our number of employees in a high pace. Our funding will help us do so and the timing is now.” Sabina says.
A paradigm shift for health care
Healthcare as we used to know is right in the middle of changing. We, as well as our investors, are sure that we’re the absolute best team to push through this great paradigm shift in healthcare.
"When we first started marketing our app in Sweden, it wasn't unusual that people misunderstood the concept of it. We were mistaken for a dating app where you could date a doctor, and a lot of people didn't really understand what this whole thing was about. From that, to overhearing someone on the subway mentioning that they saw a doctor at a healthcare clinic, and their friend responding with 'What do you mean, Offline?'. It's amazing that this behavioural transition happened in such a short time" says Livia Holm, who's been a part of KRY from the early days and is currently working on launching in the UK.
With great ambitions we need the best team
Since we first launched in 2015, we’ve had over 350 000 patient meetings across Sweden, Norway and Spain, making us the largest digital healthcare provider in Europe. In March 2018 we also launched an online psychology service and we’re now the largest provider of CBT-treatments in Sweden. But we’re not done, this is only the beginning of what we’re about to do.
“We have a much greater ambition than just the common conception of wanting to offload the traditional healthcare systems. We’re aiming to become the world’s leading healthcare provider, ensuring the best combination of medical expertise with state-of-the-art technology while considering the entire chain of healthcare. We are going to change healthcare.” says Peder Stahle, head of Product.
Peder is, as Head of Product at KRY, leading a team of fantastic designers and developers to make sure our product is always crisp and user friendly to all end-users, patients as well as clinicians. With a background as iZettles Head of Product, he is determined to drive KRY towards the same expansive journey by growing his team with passionate co-workers.
“It’s been an exciting journey so far, but we’re just getting started. We need more people! Don’t hesitate to look through our vacancies.” Peder says.
Onwards and upwards, let’s fix healthcare!
